National newspapers

Article Abstract:

The United Kingdom market for national newspapers is expected to expand by 17% during 1996-2001 due to rising advertising revenues, the ageing population and brand innovation. The market grew 14% to 3.4 billion pounds sterling in 1996 from 1991. Copy sales fell 16% to 5.2 billion in 1996 from 1963, with sales of Sunday newspapers declining most dramatically. Young adults with children respresent the smallest section of readers. Circulation of the Daily Mail grew 19.2% during 1994-96.
