Natural disasters, economic development, and humanitarian aid

Article Abstract:

The incidence of natural disasters, where they strike, and their development over time are discussed. People are more affected in low- or middle-income countries and are more likely to receive international relief for natural disaster. Determinants and targets of humanitarian aid are discussed.

Heuristics and biases in retirement savings behavior

Article Abstract:

Employees decision on whether to enroll in retirement plans, how much to contribute and how to invest are discussed. Education and plan design as a means of increasing enrollment in retirement plans, as well as comparison between defined benefit and defined contribution plans, are discussed.

Article Abstract:

How much wealth one should own in order to smooth consumption through retirement is discussed. Life-cycle model and ESPlanner are used in the computation of retirement income. The impact of interest rate on required life-cycle wealth accumulation is presented.
