Article Abstract:

The United Kingdom market for antifreeze, oil and petrol increased 30% to 13.3 billion pounds sterling during 1990-1994. Volume sales of diesel and petrol fell marginally during 1990-1993 due to the economic recession. Sales of antifreeze grew 9% by value to 24 million pounds sterling in 1994, although falling 14% in real terms during 1990-1994. Sales of oil fluctuated by value during 1990-1994, while falling 24% by volume to 126 million litres from 166 million litres. The market is examined.

Article Abstract:

The United Kingdom retail market for antifreeze, oil and petrol is expected to grow to a total of 18.27 billion pounds sterling by the year 2001 from 15.05 billion pounds sterling in 1997 at current prices, or grow to 16.03 billion pounds sterling at 1997 prices. Market demand grew 13% in real terms during 1992-1997. The usage and ownership of private automobiles is a major factor in market demand for antifreeze, oil and petrol, with the number of cars being driven in the UK growing 9% to 24.89 million units in 1996 from 1991.
