Productivity and the euro-dollar exchange rate

Article Abstract:

The average labor productivity (ALP) in the United States rose in the first half of 1990 as against a fall in ALP in the Euro area and studies were conducted to analyze the impact of productivity developments. It was found that relative productivity developments account for a small part of Euro depreciation and that the extent to which productivity can explain Euro depreciation depends on the productivity proxies used.
