Professor Calculus Would Have Disapproved
Article Abstract:
The development of a device which would use sound waves to detect the existence of oil reserves has proven to be a hoax with far reaching effects on French politics. Former French President, Valery Giscard d'Estaing, promoted the project in complete secrecy. French funds were used in financing the research. An independent researcher uncovered the bogus experiments. Giscard d'Estaing's judgment in backing the project remains questionable, which may hurt his political future.
