Reforming the Voting System

Article Abstract:

Britain's present voting system is unfair to minor parties. Other voting systems are reviewed. The cases for and against proportional representation (PR) are listed. An inset describes another form of PR, the alternative vote (AV) system. Many professional bodies use single transferable vote (STV), but it is complicated for the voter. A graph illustrates the landslide effect.
