Republican in the Far-Right Lane

Article Abstract:

Roger Jepsen, senator from Iowa, is in danger of losing the November election. The Republicans may lose control of the Senate if Jepsen and approximately six other Republican senators are not re-elected. Jepsen is far to the right of Republican mainline politics. Iowan senators have swung from liberals to conservatives. His Democratic opponent, though a liberal, has been re-elected from a conservative Congressional district.
