The frequency of financial crises in emerging markets has focused attention on the limitations of existing approaches to crisis resolution. The economic burden placed in emerging markets by the cost and difficulty of restructuring unsustainable sovereign debts are emphasized.

Is aggregation a problem for sovereign debt restructuring?

Article Abstract:

The problems to sovereign debt should be considered to design a new mechanism for sovereign debt restructuring. Investors have agreed to the point that aggregation is a problem, but markets do not solve aggregation problems.

Will the sovereign debt market survive?

To reexamine sovereign debt restructuring the experiences with bankruptcy in other debt markets is utilized. Different ways and possibilities of improving the sovereign-debt markets are presented.
