Role of the state in the social sector in southeast Asia

Article Abstract:

A number of economies in east Asia have emerged to become regional powerhouses over a short period of time. High rates of human capital development are said to have made a major contribution to their success. Public investments in education have been larger and better than elsewhere. There were no major theories emphasizing the importance of improving health in over economic development however, although the World Health Organization sees life expectancies as important indicators of income levels of subsequent economic growth.
