SPAIN: LAFARGE TO CEMENT ITS POSITION

Article Abstract:

According to Mr. Collomb, president of French cement producer Lafarge, the group considers Spain as an strategic point in order to break into South American market. In Spain, where in 1998 it registered Pta 22,806mn sales, Lafarge expects to strengthen its position. Lagarge operates in Spain trough subsidiary Lafarge Asland. Additionally, 39.35% of Cementos Molins; 47% of Spanish group Redland Iberica; 69% of Spanish group Yesos Ibericos; and 100% of Spanish group Texsa are controlled by Lafarge, all of them producers of construction materials.
