Sector-specific sticky wages and wage subsidy: a note

Article Abstract:

The effects of a wage subsidy in the model of less developed countries markedly vary from the effects generated from the Harris-Todaro-type frameworks. Furthermore, the ranking policies to boost welfare is likely to be substantially distinct in the model as opposed to the Harris-Todaro-type models. An urban wage subsidy in the Harris-Todaro model boosts urban employment which in exchange promotes greater rural to urban migration.

A comparison of forecasts from UK economic models and some Bayesian vector autoregressive models

Article Abstract:

The accuracy of United Kingdom economic forecasting models in the presence of model change and economic volatility with a horizon of zero to four years ahead is examined. The Bayesian vector-autoregressive models are used as standards of comparison using variables of growth rate, inflation rate and level of unemployment. Results reveal accurate forecasts of UK econometric models at one time sequence over several horizons.
