Saudi Arabia's furniture market - the largest in the Middle East - was worth about $600 mil in 2001 vs. $576 mil in 2000, says the U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service. Domestic output totaled $180 mil in 2001 vs $171 mil in 2000. Of the total market, household furniture accounts for 60% and office furniture 35%. A rapidly growing population and a demographic swing to a younger, more value-conscious consumer are important market influences.
