Article Abstract:

The record of Sir Keith Joseph in his two-and-a-half years heading Britain's education department has been a good one. The educational establishment approves his stand on curriculum and standards. However, there is severe criticism of his decision to give the Manpower Services Commission (MSC) a bigger role in college-based vocational training.

Seaga Takes All

Prime Minister Edward Seaga of Jamaica has called a surprise general election for December 15, 1983. He hopes to take advantage of conditions currently favorable to his party. The opposition charges violation of an agreement to wait until a new voters' roll is ready.

Bosnia Takes on the World

Article Abstract:

The 1984 Winter Olympics will be held in Yugoslavia, in Sarajevo, the capital of remote Bosnia. The Olympics are usually a financial drain. However, regional pride has made the Bosnians push themselves to prepare for the games.
