Small business earnings

Article Abstract:

A survey is undertaken to find out whether the earnings or income from business during the calendar quarter 2003 is high, low or the same. The findings indicate that twenty one percent reported higher earnings and thirty-four reported weaker earnings.

The profit trends moved up in August 2003, recording the best performance since 2000. Although there is still a mismatch between the lack of pricing power and labor compensation increases, the trend is encouraging.
