Smart investments by smart money: evidence from seasoned equity offerings

Article Abstract:

A study of seasoned equity issuing firms reveals that the ones receiving substantial increase in institutional investments around the date of offer performed much better than the ones where institutional investments declined. The sell-side analysis of such issues is discussed. The relationship for control sample of matched non-issuers is also discussed.

Implications of bank competition on loans and investments of private firms are examined. Effects of the United States' Riegle-Neal Interstate Banking and Branching Efficiency Act of 1994 on the banking industry are also analyzed.
