Sustainability as a business strategy

Article Abstract:

Agribusinesses are employing sustainable practices but corporations may not be reminding the public enough of their commendable efforts. Agricultural corporations say they really have no choice but to encourage sustainability to ensure their existence into the future. The problem, according to some experts, is that many agribusinesses are unaware that they are practicing sustainability and unable to articulate their vision.

Article Abstract:

The Philip Morris Family of Cos has launched the Shared Solutions Agricultural Initiative to identify and adress issues that affect farmers, consumers and companies. The company created the program after research showed that farmers had little knowlege of the company and its associations with agriculture. The company purchases over $5 billion worth of commodities such as grains, pork, beef and tobacco every year.
