Technical efficiency, market share and profitability of manufacturing firms in Cote d'Ivoire: the technology trap

Article Abstract:

The sources of inefficiency of the firms in Cote d'Ivoire are investigated in order to determine the extent of these effects in translating poor performance. It is believed that growth barriers and imperfect markets prove to act as hindrances for majority of firms to gain more and catch up with new technology.

A behavioural analysis of the subsistence standard of living

Article Abstract:

The subsistence-livers perceive their own standard of subsistence and make constant efforts to direct their earnings towards attaining and exceeding this standard. The labor supply function of the working poor is hypothesized to offer measures of subsistence and survival standards.

Contractual governance and illiberal contracts: some problems of contractualism as an instrument of behaviour management by agencies of government

The growing use of contract-like arrangements between public authorities and members of the society in the UK is highlighted. These developments lead to an illiberal policy, both in procedure and implementation.
