White spirits

Article Abstract:

The United Kingdom retail market for white spirits, such as white rum, gin and vodka, will be worth 2.18 billion pounds sterling by the year 2001 at current prices from 1.85 billion pounds sterling in 1997. The white spirits market was worth 1.78 billion pounds sterling in 1996, with white rum accounting for 16% of sales, gin 29% and vodka 51%. The market has matured, but sales of vodka are expected to increase. Own brand products are becoming increasingly popular, although each sector is dominated by a top brand.
