The First International Conference on the Dynamics of Strategy was held in April 1996 at the Surrey European Management School, University of Surrey, UK. Among other events, the conference featured keynote presentations by four distinguished professors from the US and UK. The conference tackled such issues as the importance of flexibility in meeting hypercompetition, dealing with change and the growing complexity of business and determining the proper approach toward new technology.

Author Robert Waterman discusses his new book on business management titled 'The Frontiers of Excellence.' Waterman's book conveys a positive message regarding the US' productivity, which appears headed for a continuous growth. Organization and strategy are considered as two inseparable components of business management. Waterman also discussed the potential mistakes that smaller firms tend to make, MacGregor's Theory Y and the strengths and weaknesses of conglomerates.
