The World Bank policies towards trade and trade policy reform

Article Abstract:

An overview of the World Bank's directions concerning trade and trade policy reform is presented. The specific issues are its policies toward developing countries, with the objectives of arriving at informed judgments on its role in areas such as trade regimes and to show the difficulties in making judgments concerning the role of the World Bank in policy and policy reform. The second major issue is the development of the Bank and its associations with other institutions involved with policy reform. It is concluded that the Bank was able to influence policy decisions which resulted in policy reforms in developing countries.

US trade policy and the GATT review

Article Abstract:

US trade policy has proven to be the most liberal in the world regardless of criticisms that such a policy is tainted with political objectives. The GATT's assessment of US policy is incorporated in a two-volume document published in 1994. Although critical of the various trade policies that the US had pursued through the years, it provides a comprehensive survey of trade issues.
