The distortions in Economic Value Added (EVA) caused by inflation

Article Abstract:

A study examining the scope in which Economic Value Added (EVA) is misrepresented by inflation reveals that it cannot be utilized under inflation to approximate actual profitability. The study also formulates an adjusted EVA (AEVA) calculation procedure which furnishes a better approximation of actual profitability under inflation. AEVA likewise presents an option to inflation accounting and could be utilized under inflation to approximate actual profitability from traditional historical cost accounts.
