The effect of management buyouts on firm-level technical inefficiency: evidence from a panel of UK machinery and equipment manufacturers

Article Abstract:

A study of the efficiency of UK equipment and machinery manufacturing firms after management buyouts from 1986-97 is discussed. There is higher efficiency two years prior to the management buyout until five years after the buyout. Managerial incentives are considered the impetus for this efficiency increase.

Technological incompatibility, endogenous switching costs and lock-in

This research paper finds that in sequentially updating systems with complements, producers prefer to have compatible technologies to avoid increased competition.
