From plan to markets

Article Abstract:

Eastern European nations, like their Western counterparts, are facing challenges concerning the ways to effectively transform their formerly planned economies into market economies. The need for formerly planned economies to achieve greater critical institutions is highly important to improve and promote investment incentives. On the other hand, Eastern European countries have greater chance of attaining long-term economic growth than their Western counterparts because of an eventual need for them to undergo institutional reform.
