The political economy of United States' free trade arrangements

Article Abstract:

The United States has only recently started shifting to bilateral and regional trade arrangements, to regulate the domestic political economy and to further it's security interests. The free trade area (FTA) agreements were of more immediate interest to the Asian and Latin American trading partners than the US itself. Though US adopted FTA's as a core element of it's trade strategy, the economic impact has been small.
