The socioeconomic consequences of moving toward the market

Article Abstract:

This article evaluates the socioeconomic consequences of post-communist transition to capitalism and market economics in Russia; macroeconomics is considered, as well as the impact on social groups, working conditions and quality of life. Issues include the consequences of the financial crisis of 1998; the results of privatization as a potential cause of the crisis; goals of economic reform, including anti-crisis strategies that support economic growth, compared with institutional strategies that support liberalization, denationalization, and a market environment; the Russian framework of markets is not considered comparable to that in the West; and no adequate formation of markets for goods and services has been achieved.

The evolution of the Russian pension system under economic crisis conditions

Article Abstract:

This article discusses pension funds in Russia since the economic crisis in 1998, which effected the state's revenue by creating an economic recession and the deterioration of the ability to collect taxes. The real material status of retirees has declined along with the pension funds; the economic status of retirees was also effect by the crisis' impact on employment, making it more difficult for them to supplement their income with other jobs.

Poverty in Russia

Article Abstract:

The relationship between Russia' current poverty rate and its economy's growth is examined. Topics include an evaluation of economic development programs, the effects of inflation on citizens' finances, wage differences, and how demonetization and stabilization of the economy are causes for poverty.
