No-Nonsense Planning for Administrators

Article Abstract:

Planning is the management technique that ensures organizational efforts will lead to better performance and results. Plans will be subject to approval according to company policy, but others may exercise indirect veto power by influencing members of the formal approval chain. Anticipation can help to neutralize opposition. Complications in negotiations can be avoided by use of the Human Pert Chart (program evaluation technique). Approval and Veto Defense tables are presented as additional planning tools.

The good old days, eh?

Article Abstract:

Some observers feel that UK schools should return to the traditional methods of disciplining unruly pupils, as this would instill greater respect for authority. However, a study of the history of school discipline in the 20th century indicates that taking the traditional harsh approach to discipline would not necessarily improve standards of behaviour. The offences for which pupils in earlier generations were disciplined repeatedly are very similar to those which take place today.

The world ex ante risk premium: an empirical investigation

Article Abstract:

It was shown, using multiple conditional inequality tests, that the world ex ante risk premium can be unfavorable. The results are strong to both dollar- and local currency-denominated risk premiums. Earlier tests of the linearity constraint of the CAPM using the MSCI world portfolio likely involve infringements of this compulsory condition of the model.
