Trends in agricultural price and trade policy instruments since 1990 in Central European countries

Article Abstract:

Central European countries, (CECs) such as Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, and Romania, have all initiated homologous agricultural price and trade policy reforms as part of a more general economic package. CECs underwent three stages of reform, which include market liberalisation, followed by increased tariff barriers, and finally, market organization. The protectionist policies employed by CECs in agricultural sectors are lower than those of the European Union.

Agriculture and the transition to the market in Asia

Article Abstract:

Asian countries must remain focused on their agricultural sector as they shift to market-based economies since agriculture has a long-term relationship with Asia's sustainable growth. Central Asian Republics (CARs) can recover if they improve their policy on agriculture by staying away from former Soviet Union's economy. Viet Nam and Lao LDR, on the other hand, should invest in infrastructure and support services to maintain the growing agricultural sector.
