Article Abstract:

The crime rate in the United States is decreasing. Violence still pervades the country, but compilers of crime statistics find inconclusive determinants of why and where crime exists. Not all crimes are even reported. The prison population is at a record high. There have been successful attempts by citizens' groups to help prevent crime.

First do not harm: What could be done by casinos to limit pathological gambling?

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning ways in which casinos could help prevent the development of pathological gambling are discussed. Particular attention is given to strategic techniques that casinos could implement to prevent addictive gambling, including reducing the jackpot amounts.
