A beast about to be tamed

Article Abstract:

The Internet provides access to numerous sources of useful information for scientists and engineers, including Compendex which provides thorough coverage of journals and conferences in all aspects of engineering from the past 20 years. The BIDS bibliographic databases should be of value to everyone in the academic community while subject collections such as the UK BUBL Subject Tree enable Internet novices to find out what is available on their subject. The Internet Computer Index and CREST, the US Centre for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technology, are particularly wide-ranging sites.
