Americans versus their government: is government too political?

Article Abstract:

Policy decisions should be assessed to determine whether they belong to the realm of technocracy or that of politics. The comparative significance of technical know-how as opposed to value judgments, importance of long-term effects and sectoral effects should influence the assessment.

Income and welfare: the new wealth system

The wealthy governments of Europe and North America have surprisingly poor performance in domestic welfare programs. There is increasing replacement of income-generating activities with leisure preoccupation leading to a pronounced discrepancy in income distribution.
