Technological change is challenging the raison d'etre of research libraries but Michael Keller is one man trying to ensure the long-term future of libraries. Keller is on the board of the Long Now Foundation, a think-tank and self-styled 'very long term cultural institution' to counter short-termism in society and also foster visionary thinking.

The United Kingdom government is considering establishing a centre for gifted children. The United States already has such centres in 2001 and the benefits both academic and social of such centres are described.
