Bias still rife, say female scientists

Article Abstract:

Women scientists in universities in the United Kingdom feel that they are at a disadvantage when it comes to salary, career development and promotional prospects, according to the results of a survey of over 2,000 engineers and scientists at universities across the UK conducted by the Athena Project, an initiative designed to advance the role of women in academic science. Of the respondents, almost half of female respondents felt that women were at a disadvantage when it came to promotion, however, only 16% of male respondents believed that women were at a disadvantage when it came to promotion.
