Binational citizens: Mexican immigrants are challenging old ideas about assimilation

Article Abstract:

Mexican immigrants are emerging as notable civic and political participants in the United States, by engaging in U.S. civil society membership organizations, public-interest groups and Spanish-language media outlets. These binational citizens, who claim membership in both Mexican and U.S. civic society, are redefining traditional perceptions of assimilation and nationalism.
