Name calling

Article Abstract:

The British government should be accountable for the funding crisis in British universities, and should be addressed at the next budget in November 1996. Ron Dearing has been appointed by the Government to look at the finance of the higher education system, and he is deemed entirely suitable for the job.

Dining on data

Article Abstract:

The 200,000 paged arms-to-Iraq document, completed by Sir Richard Scott during Feb. 1996, will be analysed thoroughly by political scientists and other academic employees in universities throughout the United Kingdom. Civil servants have apparently been prevented from communicating the truth because of their loyalty to their government ministers. Economists and law academics will also be extremely interested in the report.
