Challenge to courseware culture club

Article Abstract:

Multimedia production involves a range of skills and these may be better understood by professionals than by academics who seek to design multimedia packages. An example is the development of a cytology course with funding from the UK Department of Trade and Industry and focused on the needs of the Women's Hospital in Liverpool, England. The private sector input came from Roy Stringer, from a firm called Interactive Designs. His design skills proved invaluable in the project.

Material case for mixed-up culture

Article Abstract:

Technological change is often given undue importance in education in the UK, as happened with language laboratories in the 1960s. There are expectations that multimedia technology could change education, but there is also wariness that the promise may not deliver. Multimedia usage will spread if courses are geared toward resource-based and independent learning and the impact of multimedia will be affected by how it is taught in educational establishments.

Culture and the vultures

Article Abstract:

During the course of history, imperialism has led to a seeking for national identity, independence and freedom from oppression. In studies of this development academics are debating the relevance of canons, or collections of literary works which are intended to represent the cultural history of the nationality concerned. Students often notice similar works in the canons of very different cultures.
