Similarities and differences among individuals provide opportunities for teaching the value of graphs to students. By graphing variations in personal characteristics, pupils acquire skills in sorting, collecting and analyzing data while developing their social skills.

Children can experience how school supplies can be made by using available materials and simple procedures. Ink can be made from berries while glue can be prepared following a simple recipe. Crayons can be melted and used for studying texture and smell.
