Danes set sights on market

Article Abstract:

Public and academic research in Denmark should focus more on marketing and meeting customers' requirements in order to make the research commercially successful, says the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Major government funding should only be given if a suitable marketing strategy can be produced, with marketing to be incorporated into all research projects, says OECD. The research should be conducted in areas where Denmark could lead the world and compete at an international level. Applied research and basic research should also be better balanced.

Learning foreign languages is a matter or survival in wars as was seen after the fall of Saddam Hussein in Baghdad when American troops at checkpoints felt vulnerable due to their inability to communicate with locals. During the liberation of Europe in 1944, Allied Command made clear efforts to prepare soldiers linguistically before landings in Europe.
