Leeds strike threat over job grading

Leeds University staff have threatened to strike amid accusations that 100 administrators were informed, with no warning, that their jobs had been downgraded. During an emergency union meeting on Monday academics and support staff called for work-to-rule action.

Summer time and the living is easy ...

Many academics do not take holidays in the summer, preferring instead a busman's holiday, working in the laboratory or on a PC, though for many there is no choice but to work.
