'Gordon Brown should, as a new year's resolution, commit himself to large training subsidies for Goldman Sachs'

Article Abstract:

The Government's leading policy for higher education and adult training seems to be "Train for Gain". It is suggested that Gordon Brown of the U.K. Treasury should announce training subsidies for Goldman Sachs, which is a highly competitive industry and would show enormous returns for workplace training, generating significant addition to gross national product.

A study reveals low compliance among publishers with the Wellcome Trust's mandatory open-access policy. The study finds that very few research papers generated with Trust funding are freely accessible to the public.
