Has postmodernism killed social science?

Article Abstract:

It is argued that postmodernism and its related ideas have done little to provide new and useful insights in the field of social sciences. The argument is made by one of the participants in the Times Higher roundtable debate "Have Postmodernism and Social Theory Destroyed Social Sciences? " which is to take place in the Hong Kong Theatre, LSE, at 6.30pm on 18 October 2004.

Article Abstract:

An analysis of the implications that the discovery of the skeleton of LB1, a new species of human discovered on the Indonesian island of Flores, has for what it means to be human. It is contended that the discovery of LB1 forces us to try and understand what it means to be human and to accept that humans are not a transcendent species.
