It's last orders at Aberdeen

Article Abstract:

The doors of Aberdeen University student union are to close for the last time on 27 March 2004 as a result of plummeting bar takings. The union will instead invest its funds in a range of student support activities, such as training for Scotland's innovative quality-enhancement system. The closure of Aberdeen's student union marks a new trend among student unions, which are being forced to diversify their activities as a result of falling revenues from on-campus drinking.
