Learning gives a society life

Article Abstract:

Research into the various benefits of adult education throughout the world must be commissioned. It has been suggested the introduction of adult education helps to combat social exclusion but there is little concrete evidence to back the idea. The link between providing education programs for adults and increasing their employment prospects should be investigated. Some schemes may have worked well in one country but it is not known if they could be successfully used in another country. Research into the value of local and national schemes should also be undertaken.

More second chances, fewer second helpings

Article Abstract:

Lifelong learning, in the UK, should involve people who have been previously excluded from the learning process. The university system must endeavour to change in order to welcome and serve the needs of exclude groups of people. For some lifelong learning is viewed as a way of making a strong community and keeping old people fit. Whilst others see it as ensuring the continuation of economic growth and democratic freedom. The suggestion lifelong learning is already available to everyone results in those outside the education system never being able to gain access.
