Like minds meet in the gutter

Article Abstract:

A creative writing tutor relates how he found all of his students work had the same unhappy view of life. He had asked them to write a synopsis for a screenplay and all had used foul language, drug taking and violence in their submissions. He explains how he gave them ideas on the type of story they could present, which did not seem to inspire violence, and the structure of a screenplay. The tutor describes how he had produced screenplays rather than having written a screenplay himself.

...want to see films in Oxford University's Bodleian Library

Article Abstract:

Issues relating to the suggestion that Oxford University's Bodleian Library, one of three copyright deposit libraries in the United Kingdom, should also store copies of every DVD and video offered for sale in the UK are examined. It is argued that it is vital for libraries such as the Bodleian to store filmed material if researchers are to get a detailed understanding of the issues and time periods they are studying.
