Issues concerning standards of public education are discussed, with focus on psychological aspects of education. Particular attention is given to the detriments and benefits of the voucher system in the United States education and to ways of improving public schooling.

Most colleges require students to evaluate their courses and teachers. However, student course evaluations have been observed to cause a decline in the level of intellectual intensity in the classroom due to teachers' preoccupation with their ratings.
