No escaping the F-word

Article Abstract:

The increasing financial hurdles being faced by potential university students in the UK are examined. The chairman of Uniaid, an organisation backed by sponsors and philanthropists with the aim of helping young people get over the financial hurdles that higher education puts in front of them, argues that more aid and advice needs to made available for students.

It's about time, but it's about feedback as well

Article Abstract:

A 2007 survey suggests that the U.K.'s universities offer less direct teaching and charge much higher fees than those in Europe. It is also indicated that U.K. degrees may not be considered good value for money when they entail so much unaccounted time and activity.

New science generation needs the spark of life

An argument is presented that if science has to thrive in U.K. universities, there must be effective coordination across the various levels of the education sector to deliver science education to the 14-to-19 age group.
