Opportunities to live and learn

Article Abstract:

The Government's green paper on lifelong learning published in Feb. 1998 is designed to spark a national debate on how to create a renaissance in adult learning in the UK. Learning will be the key to keeping Britain competitive in the global economy of the 21st century, and to enabling individuals to remain in employment. Learning must be valued and enjoyed as well as being accessible to everyone, regardless of background. The Government's proposals include a University for Industry to make learning more accessible in a country where 7 million adults have no formal qualifications.
