Peer finds way to modify man

Article Abstract:

UK scientist and Labour peer Lord Winston has patented new techniques to produce transgenic animals and humans. This is done by altering the genetic code of male germ cells which produce sperm. Also covered by the patents is a technique to isolate stem cells from tissue.

Article Abstract:

Scientists were very surprised to find some plants, fish, insects and small animals survived following the Mount St Helens volcano on May 18, 1980. Temperatures on the mountain reached around 350C and 57 people died.

A detective who retraced steps on the road to hell

Student Robin O'Neill used the skills of his former profession as a policeman to help him complete his doctorate thesis. He has traced those who committed genocide in the Nazi camps, particularly at Belzec in Poland.
