Poll finds elite top cheats list

Article Abstract:

Students at the country's most academically selective universities are the most likely to admit to cheating, according to a plagiarism poll conducted by Opinionpanel Research for The Times Higher. Around 7 percent of students at Russell Group universities have admitted to plagiarising work while at other old research universities and at new universities, 4 percent admit to cheating.

Careerist mentality rises with top-ups

Article Abstract:

Students are shunning traditional academic subjects in social sciences and humanities in favour of degrees which they believe will improve their chances of getting jobs, according to application figures. Numbers applying to study history are down over 8 percent while language courses with arts and humanities combinations are down by 9.1 percent.

Mental health crisis on campus

The number of university students suffering severe mental halth problems has soared in recent years, according to an investigation by The Times Higher. Support services, which are being stretched, say they are helping an unprecedented number of students with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.
