Supermodels shame about the figures

Article Abstract:

The UK Monetary Policy Committee has been criticized for raising interest rates six times and some observers suggest another raise in rates, for Aug 1998, will cause a recession. It has been suggested the academics on the committee are out of touch of the financial difficulties faced by ordinary people. Some observers suggest the actions of the committee members are inconsistent and are based on economic models. Three of the committee's nine members are academics whilst only one member has firm links with industry. Bank of England Governor Eddie George is chairman of the committee.

Deadly silence of Britain's Jews

Article Abstract:

Some young Jewish historians are openly reexamining the accepted view of the role of British Jews before and during the Second World War. Professor of Modern Jewish Studies David Cesarani has been criticised for his suggestion the British government could have stopped the Holocaust. Anglo-Jewish Historian Geoffrey Alderman has suggested British Jews did not try to stop the Holocaust and were not always supportive of a homeland for the Jews. Some young Jewish historians have pointed out at times they have found it difficult to obtain permission to study archived materials.

Stand up and be banished

Article Abstract:

Harinda Bahra has faced over 150 job rejections in higher education since leaving his post as university marketing director in 2003. Bahra has only one explanation for the rejections and that is that he is not afraid to speak out when witnessing practices or attitudes which have concerned him.
