Teachers for hire

Article Abstract:

The teacher externship program sponsored by the University of Nevada-Las Vegas aims at providing teachers with information on current business, industry skills, and competencies. For this they are placed at work sites related to their specialities. They receive three units of graduate credit from the University on the completion of their externship, which count towards a master's degree in vocational or postsecondary education. The program also enables the teachers to develop new energy for the classroom. Recommendations are included for starting similar programs.
